"Faith is Action"

URGENT MESSAGES: From Trent to Shawn voicemail: "Hey if you get this give me a call it's kind of urgent, it's nothing earth shattering, kind of on a personal level, so call me on my cell." Trent to Kandee text: I don't know IF you are in mackay but IF you get this please have Shawn call me. Trent to Shawn voicemail: "You weren't supposed to get this via voice mail. I tried getting hold of you and haven't been able to. We just got back from Martins cove it's about 1 in the morning. Big news so brace yourself I know you have big muscles. I got baptized today in the Sweetwater River. I want you to be there for the confirmation to stand in the circle or participate. Anyway, I hope you know how much I care for you and the great example you set for me. I think you might be in Mackay, I know we will share it even if you are not there. Thanks buddy be good!" Trent to Shawn text: I hope you got my messages. I was baptized and want you to be there for confirmation. Sunday 9 am. Thanks for your friendship and the great example.

These are the messages we received on our phones as we turned them on last night coming home from Granite Hotsprings in Wyoming from a camping trip. There was no service up there so we didn't even turn them on. You can imagine our excitment and also our sadness at not being able to be there with Trent & Kari to experience this with them. The last time I talked to Kari her comment was " Trent is really close. I know when he is ready he will come home and say, get dressed I'm going to get baptised." She went on to say " So be ready, for a phone call, because I am sure that's all the notice you will get". How true, and how well she knows him.

Shawn called him when we got home and visited with him about it. I heard him say, "You are different Trent, I can already tell." He finished the conversation with "I love you too, Trent". WOW! It makes my heart pound and brings tears to my eyes as I think about it. Shawn said he told Trent before he left that this was going to be the turning point, and that he would be baptized. To preface, Trent & Kari were asked to be a Ma & Pa on their stake trek to Martin's Cove. Trent said as they were leaving the Bishop said "Trent, I brought your baptism clothes". He said the bishop has never pushed him to be baptized before. He said as they were on the trek there were a few comments made "FAITH IS ACTION", being one of them that really started him thinking. Thursday of the trek they were able to go at their own pace and he stayed about a mile behind contemplating things. Friday morning he told them he wanted to be baptised and they baptised him right there in the Sweetwater River. What an amazing experience for his family and those kids on the trek. It is something they will never forget. He told Shawn he felt like a 50 lb weight had been lifted from his shoulders. It is so hard to tell this second hand and get the spirit that I felt as Shawn & Trent visited and Shawn relayed some of the things that were said. Maybe I can get Shawn to write it down.

For those that are reading this it is very personal, please use it to help build your testimony, because I know you can feel the spirit. Please don't repost and write some of these personal things so that it takes some of the spirit away.

  1. That is the coolest thing I have ever read! Trent is a good dude, and I am glad he made the plunge. It helps to have good friends as an example.
