This is the lower part of the waterfall we hiked to. It was absolutely beautiful.
This past weekend Aaron & Emeral Larson decided to bless their new baby Genevieve & ordain their oldest Tathen to the priesthood. We took the chance and decided to go camping for the weekend out to Leslie. Friday night we loaded up and got out there about 9:00 pm, we set up camp in the dark had a snack and hit the sack. Aimee was out there with her girls because it was her 20 year class reunion. Jenaee and Neal were out also. They were all staying up at mom's place so that they didn't have to camp. Saturday morning I got up bright and early and dragged Shawn out to set my fly rod up to do a little fishing. I could probably have done it myself, but when I have someone to do it for me I might as well take advantage. Anyway, Shawn threatened the kids to stay off my end of the pond and out of my fishing area. The fish in the pond are getting so big and they were biting what I had. I was catching a fish about every cast. The biggest Shawn said was about 20". The rest were around 16". I think my line was old or something because I broke off about 8 flies. That sounds like an excuse, but even Shawn said I was working them right. Anyway, it was really fun.

Shawn even took my fish off the hook, so I wouldn't have to get all fishy smelly. Of course all of the kids had to help.
After a while everyone started coming out so I decided it was time to start some breakfast. Everyone was going to eat together. We had some breakfast burritos, then decided to go on a hike. We all loaded up and headed up the mountain to the trail head. I don't even know what the hike was called. Aaron always called it Nelson's waterfall, that is where he proposed to Emeral, and they hike it quite frequently. The rest of us had never been up there. It was beautiful, the trail was very well maintained and easy enough for the younger kids. Aspen made it almost the whole way without pooping out. It was about 2 1/4 miles to what was called the old historic dam. That was beautiful, part of the old wall was there and you could see opening that they would let the water through. Another 1/2 mile or so up was the waterfall or falls. It came right out of the rock, and ran down the mountain. It was absolutely amazing, I had no idea it was like that. Those are the times when you wish your camera could do it justice. We took lots of pictures and of course since Aimee was up there with her camera we had her take some impromptu family pictures with us all sweaty and everything.

Shawn & Carter jumped in the water at the old dam. It was so cold they couldn't catch their breath. Shawn said it was the coldest water he had ever been in. When he got out he was already turning purple, and his muscles were cramping.

Carter was packing the back pack because he was collecting all the "COOL" rocks and had to have something to carry them in. His eyes are swollen from a bee sting.
When we got back to camp I attempted to make a prime rib roast in the dutch oven for dinner. It actually turned out pretty good. We ate it with dutch oven cheesy potatoes, and corn on the cob with smore's for dessert. YUMMY! It was beautiful weather and we sat around the fire visiting, in my opinion one of the best things about camping.

Miranda & Sara in canoe trying to make it turn.

Shade luvs Reuben & vice versa. Shade got him to "try" to pull him in the wagon, so they could go work on their fort.
The boys spent most of the weekend in camp building a fort. They were so proud of it because they had it suspended in the trees. All lashed together with twine string. It actually was pretty cool, it had a floor and ladder and lookout.
