Last weekend was the first Labor Day weekend in a long time that we haven't been camping, but what a weekend.
It started Friday night with Morgan getting ready to show her horse in the Eastern Idaho State Fair. In order to show in that fair you have to win on the county level. She had to get her horse all washed and pretty. The show was at 8:00 am in Blackfoot so we woke up at the bright and early hour of 5:00 am to get all ready and get down there. Morgan as usual was very stubborn about receiving any kind of help from me. Her classic "I know" answer to everything I tried to help her with was so frustrating, I finally just threw my hands up and said go for it. She did ok, she didn't place, but I hope she learned some valuable lessons.
As soon as Morgan was done showing I rushed back to Rexburg, so that I could be at Hayden Waddoups baptism and Finn Waddoups blessing at 10:00 am. I got there a little late but still in time to see the baptism and blessing. After that we headed over to Neal & Jenaee's for some lunch, which we ate quickly.
Then we headed down to Salt Lake to be at Leah Boice's baptism. Before we stared I had already put 125 miles on my car that morning. We got to Cameron's in time to straighten our clothes & grab a snack before heading over to the church for the baptism. Leah decided to wait until she was 12 to be baptised. It was really neat to see how grown up she was and you could tell she has a testimony of the church. Earlier in the day one of her friends was baptised. Leah said her and her friends had invited her to church and she decided to be baptised. What a neat day for her. Cameron did an awesome job with baptism & confirmation blessing. We could really feel the spirit. After the baptism we all went over to a little pool and spent the evening swimming and watching lots of belly flops. Cameron got us some pizza then went home for icecream. What a long but great day.

Cameron got Shawn & I a hotel to stay in so we took Aspen and headed over there and conked out. In the morning we woke up and took Aspen for a swim before heading over to Cameron's for some yummy breakfast. Then we spent the day chillin'. Just relaxing and doing absolutely nothing except watch TV which the guys and kids seem to love but I can only take so much of.
After church we had a BBQ and had some cake for Grandma Alice's birthday, yum, chocolate turtle cake. I even learned how to make it. Now if only I could keep carmels on hand to make it when I want to. I would need a top secret hiding spot.

Whitney called and said she was in labor but the contractions were only a 20 minutes apart. Bob, Roberta & Alice decided to head home and stop by Pocatello to take care of Bodin while Whit & Skyler went to the hospital. Leah & Morgan made up a dance to convince Shawn & I we needed to stay another night. They succeeded. Roberta text'd about 8:30 pm to let us know Whit had her baby. A little boy they named Torin Lemich. He was born on Great Grandma Alice's birthday.

We headed up to Snowbird ski resort for the evening to hike and mess around. The weather was beautiful and we spent a great evening with Cameron & Leah, and Cortney & Ashly & family. Monday morning we got up and had some breakfast then headed out around 10:00 am. We stopped in Willard on the way home and got some yummy peaches, watermellon, rasberries, blackberries & corn on the cob. Which tells you what I did for the rest of the week. I made jam, canned green beans (out of my garden), and froze corn. Tomorrow is peach canning day. I have a recipe for peach pie filling that I am excited to try out. I also picked tomatoes out of my greenhouse today so I will be canning those also tomorrow.
Shewwwwah, I need a nap after reading your schedule of canning and such!!!! Wasn't it the BEST weekend ever!!!! So fun to be with you guys!
ReplyDeleteMorg, CONGRATS - nice way to show your horse. Mom, you're awesome - I wish my mom would have done that for me when I was her age!!!!
