A Marvelous Work & A Wonder

I finished it! In January I was visiting with my friend whose husband is investigating the church. She was so excited because he had finished the Book of Mormon. Not only that, the night after he finished she woke up to him reading at 3:00 am. She asked him what he was doing and he said "I needed to know more so I'm reading the Doctrine & Covenants." I thought to myself, I have the books around me, I study them in church, I am a member of the church that that was restored to the earth thru the Book of Mormon and I can honestly say I have never read either of them from start to finish. I did what I had to to pass seminary & religion classes in school but that was it, no more no less. I started the Book of Mormon when President Hinckley challenged us to and got 1/2 way thru Alma. Here was a non-member that couldn't get enough of these books, I wanted to know why. I love to read for pleasure. When I pick up a book, I usually finish it within a day or two. I stick it in my purse, I read it at stop lights, while I'm waiting for kids, & before I go to bed. I decided I would do this with the Book of Mormon. For the most part I did this. It was to much for my brain to get around to read it straight thru, but in reading more than just a chapter at a time, I understood it more. I could get into the stories and didn't want to put it down. I wanted to talk about it with Shawn, and get his insights. I could see so much of the parallels in world today. With our government, the way people think and believe. How they have taken so much of God out of their lives. I loved especially when Christ came to visit the Nephites after his resurrection. The love he showed them, and the faith they had in him. The story about the 3 deciples having faith to ask what they desired the most. I kept notes in a journal & there were some parts I couldn't write enough of what I wanted to remember. I love Moroni, what a leader. In Alma 54:4-14 when he says "I am Moroni, I am a leader of the people of Nephi". I wanted to stand up and carry his Title of Liberty myself. In my notes I wrote; Moroni-amazing general & strategist, loved God, his people, and liberty. As the prophets testified in 3 Nephi 21, it is a marvelous work & wonder. I have gained such a testimony of this book. There is no way a young man could have written this book. I feel it, I know it. It is inspired of God thru his holy prophets. I am so excited to read more, I just can't decide which one.
