This Labor Day we went out to our property in Leslie. That is always what we do for Labor Day and Memorial Day, just because we don't want to deal with the crowds anywhere else. We left Friday in rush, like always, about 1 1/2 after we had planned. We got out there about 10:30 pm, got the camper set up and went to sleep. Saturday morning, mom made french toast up to the house for breakfast, so I didn't even have to get up early and cook outside. It was great. After breakfast Neal, Shawn and the boys all hopped on the motorcycles and 4-wheelers and went for a ride somewhere in the mountains. The got home right about lunch time. We cooked hot dogs & brats over the fire for lunch. By that time Seth had come over with his family. They were staying in their new cabin they built a couple miles down the road. Seth told us about a new lake he had found when talking to a forest ranger, that had lots of fish in it. We all decided to go up and see how the fishing was. So we spent Saturday afternoon at Leman Lake.
Sunday Shawn & I beat the kids up and went out on the pond to fish for a few minutes. It wasn't long, before Carter came out and joined us. He loves to fish on that pond. The fish are getting really big and we are also getting some coming in from the creek, after Shawn put a pipe running from the creek to the pond. Then Aspen & I got ready to go to church with Grandma. We were in a rush on Friday & I didn't have time to get everyone's church clothes. I told them if they wanted to go they would have to get their own. The general consensus was they didn't want to go, but Aspen loves her primary and wanted to go. So I got our stuff packed so we could go. I figured we would only stay for Sacrament, but Aspen wanted to go to primary, so I stayed for all the meetings. It was very nice to go to relief society with my mom. The rest of the day was spent visiting and sleeping. Wendee & Robert and their family came up, Jenaee was still there with her kids. The kids spent most of the day fishing on the river. The caught quite a few fish and had a great time. We are so blessed to have that place out there. We just absolutely love it. The kids fished again Monday morning while we got everything ready to go. Morgan got the whole camper cleaned and ready, because she wanted to come home and have Aunt Whitney cut her hair. We left about 12:00 pm and came home to a birthday party for Grandma Alice (88) and Torin (1). He was born on her birthday. It was a great weekend and very relaxing.
We learned that Uno, Shawn's dog he got for Father's Day loves to go fishing. When I was teaching my nephews how to fly fish on the pond Saturday while most of the family was 4-wheeling a caught a fish. As I was reeling it in, Uno dove head first into the water and came up with the fish in his mouth. I thought for sure he had killed it, but when I told him to drop there wasn't a mark on it.
Shawn had a fish on and Uno was going for it.
After trying to catch the fish and swimming in circles, he finally gave up. This fish was to feisty for him.
If you look really close in this picture you can see Erin Larson in red on the rock in the middle of the picture. She was fishing on the other side of the lake with Seth, when they started seeing a lot of water snakes in the water. She high tailed for high ground, she probably didn't realize there were just as many rattle snakes up in the rocks.
Carter loves to fish. He stayed out in that lake longer than anyone catching fish. We caught alot of little fish and had a fun day.

It was about a mile up to the lake from the main road. Most of rode the 4-wheeler and motorbikes up from there. While everyone else was fishing, Jenaee, Morgan, Eli & I rode the 4-wheelers up past the lake for several miles. It was a great 4-wheeling trail and really pretty. We followed a stream bed with aspens the whole way up.Shader
We all got a kick out of this. That white pipe is an open pipe that we dropped a pump into. We pump the water out of it for our sprinkling system around the pond. We were all sitting around the fire when Shawn started laughing. We went to see what he was laughing about and there was Aspen perched on the pipe using it for a toilet. I couldn't pass up the picture, but by the time I got my camera she was already getting off.
