The 4th of July Parade

The Americana's are a local horse riding group that we are fortunate to have open our parade most years. They have performed at the inaugural parade in Washington, The Rose parade & lots of of other famous parades.

I think that the 4th of July carries the most family traditions in our family. For as long as I can remember, other than the 1st couple of years of our marriage, the Boice family has enjoyed the parade from the sidewalk in front of Sled Shed. Originally, Brian & Heather owned the Sled Shed and Sticks & Stones. The night before the parade Bob & Great Grandpa Bob would bring down the chairs and put them in the store the night before then bring them out the morning of the parade. That was before Brian & Heather sold the store a few years ago. Also, before Rexburg blossomed into a BIG town. Back in the day we would be the only family along "OUR" section of sidewalk, now families are 2 to 3 deep along the parade route. Plus our family is substantially bigger and the fact that some of the Larson family(my family) now joins us. Bob Boice now goes down at 5:30 a.m to reserve our seats along the parade route. What a trooper!
Keeping guard! Bob paces the front of the chairs until the whole family arrives so that no one snatches our spot. He got their at 5:30 am to set them up.

The candy is the only reason the kids come to the parade. It is a chore just keeping them out of the middle of the road.

Shade getting a rock out of his shoe, or just trying not to get his picture taken; not sure which.
