Volleyball

Morgan came home one Friday and informed me she wanted to try out for the 8th grade volleyteam. I was a little surprised because she hadn't wanted to go to the volleyball camp and she hadn't practiced all summer, and she is only in 7th grade. After making sure that was what she wanted to do, we practiced in the yard the next few days. Tryouts were Monday, and she was really nervous, so was I actually. As a parent you want your children to succeed, I will say I had my doubts as I knew that there was some really strong talent in the 8th grade. After tryouts she said she thought she did pretty good and waited on needles till the next day when results were posted. Shawn was in town at the indicated time so she had him run over and look at the posting. When she came running with the news and big smile I knew she had made it. There were two teams and A team & B team. The B team had most of the 7th graders on it and that was where Morgan was.

So that started the last month of running to practice and games for Morgan. She goes to the middles school and they practiced at the junior high so I had to get her over there as soon as school was out. The first little bit I went in every day, took her over, then waited until she was done with practice. Later one of the other moms of a 7th grader on the team that works at the middle school volunteered to take her over after school, that was nice. She had games twice a week on Tuesdays & Thursdays and some Saturdays. With the budget cuts the season was short, but they played double headers each day. That was really nice.

Both the A & B teams did really well. Morgan's team only lost two games and both teams won the Sand Creek Tournament in Idaho Falls. They didn't play in the district tournament, but with their record would be considered the top B team. Morgan's team all dressed down for the district tournament which the A team played in and cheered their hearts out. The A team came away as the District Champions. Go Madison Bobcats.
