Saddle Sore (and loving it)

This past year I assisted as a leader of Morgan's horse 4-H group. We had planned on going on a trail ride this Fall after the fair was over. Yesterday was the big day. We decided to head up to Harriman State Park and ride, because the trails are pretty easy and we have all levels of riders. We got up there about 10 am. I was riding Sunny my paint horse that we just had trained this past Spring. She has never been on a trail ride so I wasn't sure what to expect. She did really well. She didn't spook at things and went right over the many wood bridges. She did want to make sure she was right up with the other horses, which was a pain sometimes, especially if it was behind a horse that likes to kick. I should have just let her take it in the nose once to learn a lesson. After the ride (about 3 hours), we had lunch at the trailers and were home by 4 pm. The weather was beautiful, the scenery was amazing and the company was great. The photography is not the best as they were taken from cell phone on the back of a horse that sometimes didn't want to stand still.

The scenery was breathtaking. This was on top of a ridge looking down thru the aspen at one of the many lakes. There is no way to describe how beautiful this was and no way a picture off of my cell phone can do it justice. It makes me so thankful for the things that Heavenly Father has given us. Sometimes, I would be riding with my head down trying to keep my horse in line, then I would look up and be blown away by what was around me.
