So many things going on over the past month that I have not blogged I thought I would attempt to put a few of them to pictures for histories sake. The kids love the kittens. Momma kitty moved them into the garage this week, so Aspen just mauls them like crazy. She brings them in the house and puts them to bed, brushes their hair to make the beautiful as she says, and wraps them in her shirt to carry them around. Her little arms are just covered with scratches from their sharp claws.

Aspen loves to feed the horses their apple treats, and the horses love them to. They are crazy about them and fight over who gets the most. Doc usually wins that battle.

Aspen found Morgan's shoes and Shade's hat and wanted to go out to jump on the tramp. I couldn't resist the picture.

Shawn had an appointment for a landscape in Mackay. He had really wanted to go steel head fishing so I told him to just go the extra 45 minutes up to Challis after the appointment. He did and had a great day steel heading. He caught his limit and brought a few home for a fish fry with the family. Grandpa Bob Boice always loves it when we have fish and Shawn's getting pretty good at BBQing them. He is loving his new camera he got for Christmas.

Shade has wanted a new bike now for about 2 years. He finally found one he liked from Dans Comp on line. The brand is a Sunday bike. I told him for his last birthday I would give him $100 towards it. The total cost was $379. He ordered it and was so excited for it to get here. Then he found out it was on back order. He had to wait almost a month to get it, but you should have seen his face when it got here. He wouldn't let anyone touch it. It's a good thing it took so long because I told him he couldn't jump bikes until after 9th grade ball was over. The 1st part of the season he was jumping with his friend and hyper extended his elbow. It would have killed him to have that cool bike and not be able to jump it. He has been working on his jumps and track for the past 2 months. Saturday was his last game, and sure enough his buddies were all here jumping.

Shade played 9th grade baseball this year. It was so cold every game. I think he had 22 games on the schedule and they ended up playing 11. There was not a single game that you didn't have to have a hat and blanket to keep warm. He usually played 1st base or 3rd base. He hit really well this year. He kept hoping for a home run but the best he got was several triples. He is all done playing that and has moved to babe ruth league. His 1st game is this Wednesday.

The other night I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking I was smelling something burning. Morgan had cooked dinner that night and I remembered making sure the stove was off. I smelled Aspens hair (she was came in to sleep with us in the middle of the night) to see if that was what I was smelling. It wasn't a normal burning smell, so I thought I was imagining things. When I woke up in the morning I found this pillow in front of the gas fireplace. Shade loves the turn it on and lay in front of it. He fell asleep in front of it and sometime in the middle of the night went up to bed, leaving the pillow and the fireplace on. Thank goodness for those nonflamable pillows. Our Heavenly Father continues to watch over us and protect us. This could have had another ending entirely.

A few years ago we bought some pheasants and let them go around the farm. Shawn has really wanted to get some babies to raise so we got some this year. Our first attempt was not so successful. The night after we got them Shawn called me out to the barn to help "revive" some chicks at about 9 pm. I went out to find about 8 chicks close to death. We worked together to get them going again, giving them droppers of water, holding them under the heat lamp and eventually bringing them in the house and putting in the oven to get them warmed up. I worked until 12:30 am to get them going. I was hoping to have at least 1/2 of them still alive in the morning. By the time it was all said and done we lost most of them, but we tried really hard. We also learned that baby pheasants need alot more heat than a regular chick. After adjusting the light down closer they are thriving. The top picture is of the one's we brought in the house to revive. Out of the 24 we bought we have 13 surviving and doing well.

Meet "Rambo", Carter's 4-H pig. He is our newest addition to the Boice Farm. He weighs a whopping 76 lbs. Carter thinks he is pretty cool. He gets into the pen and tries to catch the poor guy. I try to tell him pigs aren't like a dog, but he keeps trying. Who knows maybe by fair time he will get close enough to pet him.

One day Nora was over playing with Aspen while Jenaee was planting some flowers in the greenhouse. When I asked Nora where Aspen was she said, "Aspens outside pulling the horse. The "big" horse." When I went outside I found Aspen leading Baily around the coral. For some reason, that horse just loves her. He follows her around like a puppy. It sure gives me a heart attack, though, mostly because of the other big horses in the coral.
