Blessed

Sometimes I just get reminded how really blessed me and my family are. This past week a young mother was killed when her car rolled upside down in a dry canal and she was partly ejected (no seatbelt). Sound familiar? It reminded me of how truly blessed my family was this past January as we too rolled upside down in the canal. Neither me or the four kids were in seatbelts. I laid in bed the next few nights just going over and over in my mind all of the things that could have happened (such as being ejected), etc. Heavenly Father was truly watching out for my little family as we all walked away from our totaled vehicle with minor scratches & bruises. I know Heavenly Father has a plan for us here on earth.

I am blessed to live where I do. Although I complain about the weather right now, I am thankful I am not living where there is so much rain that whole towns flood, or where tornado's & earthquakes cause so much death & destruction. We really do live in a special place where I can look out every day and see the sky, and the sunset. Not many people can look out their kitchen window most nights as it frames amazing sunsets.

I am blessed to have a husband that loves me and works crazy hard to support us. Who will do things such as work in 35 degree weather with 30 mile an hour winds to put up a new greenhouse for me. To have children who love me even when I'm not so nice, and forgive me when I am grouchy for no reason that they can come up with.

I am blessed to live close to my brothers, sisters & in-laws. Every year we have an Easter Egg Hunt and BBQ at our house for Easter. Today with the Spring Blizzard we had it down at the Ridge Event Center. Although, it seems so overwhelming sometimes with that many people together, I wouldn't have it any other way. I can't wait to live all the way to the eternities with all of my family.

I am blessed to have my mom. I didn't get to watch much of conference today because our TV wasn't cooperating, but I did catch the talk by Russell M Ballard about mothers & daughters. My mom has always been a perfect example to me. I hope as Elder Ballard said, when people look at me they see my mom, because I would love to be like her. He quoted Ralph Waldo Emmerson "What you do speaks so loud, that I cannot hear what you say." I hope I am that type of example although my daughters hear what I say also, because I know I can do better when it comes to doing what I say.
