Shoulder Surgery

In June Aspen & I were riding around on the 4-wheeler with Shawn while he was checking the irrigation water. As he went up the side of the canal the 4-wheeler started to tip. I was scared that it was going to roll over on us (Aspen especially) so I bailed off with her. I did not think about the fact that I was bailing into a hole Shade had dug for his bike jumps. As it was I dropped about 6 feet into a four foot hole in the ground. I had one arm around Aspen and the other extended to catch us. When I landed I felt the most excruciating pain in my shoulder. Shawn kept the 4-wheeler from rolling and Aspen was ok but I was not. I literally was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. Shawn took me into the ER and after about 1 1/2 hours in PAIN, they finally decided my shoulder was dislocated. They got it back into place and it was much better. However, I tore it really bad. I decided to wait until Fall to have surgery on it because I could use it if I was careful, and I didn't want to ruin my whole summer. October 17 I went in for surgery. They ended up fixing my labram (sp.) that is what holds my shoulder in place and another extremely large tear that I still am not sure what was.

The pain from my shoulder was much worse than my knee. They say it is because it is immobile for so long. I had to have it in a sling and wrap for 6 weeks. For the 1st 5 weeks I couldn't sleep in my bed because it hurt so much to lay down. I slept in the recliner, if you could call it sleeping. It was very hard to get comfortable. The therapy on it also was a lot worse than my knee. She forced it a lot more, so there were a few tears, but not many!
Before surgery while waiting. They put me in this cool gown that had air pockets in it that they could fill with warm air. It was SWEET!

In recovery. I ended up having to stay over night in the hospital because I couldn't keep any food down. I was good the next morning though, so I got to go home.
The bandaging before we removed it.
The shoulder when we removed the bandages for the 1st time.
