Hanging the new backstop.
They chose to name the new field after Don Cichos. He moved to Rexburg in the mid 80's and was very involved in the local baseball association, coaching and instrumental in getting legion ball back in Rexburg. He passed away in 1995, but his wife and son, our good friend Trent Cichos are still very involved in the program. His wife Joan threw out the 1st pitch of the home opener after the field was complete.
Carter played on the all-star team. This is him pitching & one of his team mates sliding during the Madison tournament. Shawn was the coach. They really struggled putting things together their 1st tournament and games and were not able to win any games. Finally during the Pocatello tournament they won their 1st game. It was so fun to see how excited they were, and to see their confidence level jump. They were able to take 2nd place in that tournament and go on the next weekend to take 1st place in their division at the Blackfoot tournament to finish their season.
Shade played legion baseball for the 1st time this year. It consists of a season of about 60 games plus tournament if you make it. They played 3 to 4 double headers each week, some of them over nighters in the Twin Falls area. He played 1st base and usually was a designated hitter in the other game of each double header. He hit great this year with one home run (over the fence) and lots of doubles and triples. These two articles have him in them for his hitting.
