Thanksgiving Blizzard

Wow, the weather outside is frightful! It started snowing Sunday and it looks like it might finally be letting up. It has been blizzard like conditions all of yesterday and today. Now it just supposed to be FRIGID. Shawn has been out snowplowing for most of the past 48 hours. It is blowing so hard that even if it is not snowing he still has to keep the parking lot at Winco cleared. It is absolutely beautiful outside and it reminds me how thankful I am for having a nice warm home and wood for my fireplace. I told Shawn as we were driving out of the driveway today "I am glad I am not an animal!" We moved all of the horses into the barn area so they would be out of the wind, and not one of the crazy things was under the awning. They were covered with snow, it literally looks like I have six white horses & 3 white cows. The poor things. We drove into town to get a few things and it was like a ghost town. The roads were awful, and they closed down all of the banks, city offices, the library and anything else they could get away with..

It was so cold even the birds tried to come in the house to get warm! As I was sitting at the computer a pretty little bird hit the front window really hard. I watched it flutter to the ground, and lay there for a bit. I realized if it didn't get up and moving pretty quick it wouldn't live so I went out and brought it in by the fire place. After a few minutes it started to perk up, and move around so I had Morgan come and take a picture. As I moved my hands so she could get a good shot, it flew up and away. We had to encourage it to fly out the door, but it made it and hopefully found some shelter somewhere else.

The boys were loving it. The ditch behind the house was covered in a drift so they (Shade, Jace Arnold, & Carter) spent some time digging a fort. They said it is huge (when the wind stops I will check it out), and is about 20' long and tall enough for Shade to sit in.

We are so thankful for the snow. We have been praying for lots of snow this year. Usually in November we are lucky to get 1 push, this year it is looking like our November will be like our average December. We are stoked about that. Just one more thing to be thankful for. The family is coming over to our house for Thanksgiving dinner this year. I have been trying to get some cleaning done, even have had the kids helping. It has been fun having the kids home from school for snow days, but I have to say, as fast as I clean, they mess it up. I have just decided I will clean on Thursday and hopefully that works out.
