I've been Thinking!

Girls Basketball Team Senior Year

Have you ever had one of those nights where you go to bed with something on your mind or you have thought a little bit about something for a few days and all night that something is in the back of your mind or in your dreams? That was the case for me last night. My friend Susan Sutton has been on her 20 year class reunion committee and her reunion was yesterday. She asked me the other day when my 20 year was. Wow is that possible to be out of highschool for 20 years? In some ways it seems like just yesterday. I remember being in 10th grade and thinking 2 more years to graduate, that seems like a lifetime. Class of 1992! Now I have a 10th grader of my own. That is so crazy. Anyway, during the night I kept thinking about putting together a 20 year class reunion. My class has not had a traditional 5, 10, 15 year class reunion. For some reason we just haven't gotten together. I just wanted to write down a few of the things I've been thinking because I know I will forget them, when I want to remember them. Yeah, memory loss comes with the 20 year thing.

1. Breakfast with the families
2. Community or school service project
3. Combining with the class above or below us
4. Golf tournament
5. Slide show including those that can not make it. Old & new pictures
6. Dinner with couples, either at one of the local restaurants or catered
7. Inviting our teachers
8. Honoring some teachers

OK. The other thing that I have been brain storming and can't get out of my mind is setting up an "Alumni Scholorship Fund". I know there are some successful people that have come from Mackay High. Everyone can contribute even if it is only $10. You would have to set up a board & selection committee. People could just put it in a bank account set up for that purpose. Depending on the amount of money donated each year would depend on the number of scholarships and amounts available each year. Kids would have to apply. We could have an alumni golf tournament to benefit the scholarship fund. Sometimes the kids from little schools don't have access to some of the scholarship opportunites like bigger schools, mainly because of the curriculum they can offer. These are just some of the thoughts running through my head this morning. Now when I get serious about things I will remember what I was thinking.
